he’s got a cannondale caad9!
this guy has a very high cardio base. look at him powering up the climb off the saddle. most of us cant maintain that for that long and its not that difficult to blow up after the slightest effort on climbs. i blow up just dealing with a 15mph headwind for an hour. not every one of us have a vo2 max above 60 and higher.
what about advice for the average joe. guys with around 48-53 vo2 max.
great video though. i learned a few things.
i was fortunate to live in vancouver in my cycling days. lots of mountains to climb!
it looks like your leg extension is close to 90% extension where it seems that more riders nowadays ride around 75% extension.
how are your knees holding out? mine are shot esp my left one. i wish i lowered my saddle just a wee bit.
but…you do have a very smooth climbing style. i never enjoyed the higher cadences that is more common in today’s cycling. i preferred about a nice 80. esp with 175 cranks.
@Marioclaes My question too
hmmm…do i really need a mountain transmission for driving in the mountains?
i’ve got the standard 53/39 crank and a new compact crank would be far too expensive.
in the back i’ve got the 21-11 cassette (oldschool, da7700)… is it necessary to change to a 25-12?
i want to drive in the mountains and in the 70s, they drove with 42 -26 xDDD
now i don’t know what to do ^^ would be the first time…
Thanks. This really makes the most sense of any of the climbing videos and techniques I’ve encountered. Stay relaxed and enjoy yourself.
This is a very informative video and some great mountain scenes

@Marioclaes We filmed this in the Dolomites on Passo Giau which features on the Maratona dles Dolomites Gran Fondo
might be a stupid question xd but what mountain is he riding on?
Specialized GLOBE CARMEL
I love climbing on the bike then there is a better reward downhill
@cyclefagg thats absolute genius
that was a good video now im gonig to try it right bow thank you
funky bass line
thank you for this.
very good stuff. a big help for me. 18 years of bodybuilding and only 5 years cycling makes me struggle with efficency. This should help. It’s just hard to reprogram my body for good cadence when just days ago I was squatting big weight. I am a 2 sport athlete of the 2 most diabolically opposed sports! Thanks for the video!
you are a machine i ride mountain bikes. im going to use some of this for rideing the trail how do you train to just cruz up those mountains?
