love seat
STOP @ ANY BIKE SHOP THERE ARE ALOT OF OPTIONS BUT IT HAS TO FIT THE BIKE GOOD LUCK ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS YOU GO FOR IT! YOU CAN DO IT!
No matter what the seat isn’t going to be comfortable but after a while you start to get used to it. At least I did but then again I’m not overweight.
You may want to consider getting a recumbent bicycle. They have larger seats and are MUCH more comfortable to ride. Although they have a certain geek appeal to them.

Otherwise, consider getting a Body Geometry seat.

There’s a selection of seats that should fit a variety of bottoms.
One style that looks especially comfortable is split down the middle, so each side cradles one cheek (so to speak). There’s another model that’s supposedly “women’s specific.”
A suggestion you may wish to consider: Get the seat first, then pick out a bike. Before you buy the bike, make sure the seat fits the bike — and you. If it doesn’t, you can always return the seat and get your money back.
BTW: I’m not with the Web site. I just Googled “bicycle seat” and that one looked the most promising.
This site — http://www.mikebentley.com/bike/seats.htm — lists a variety of bicycle seat manufacturers.
Good like with your biking.
Try a Bell seat. I bought my wife one and she loves it. It is wide and it is gel filled. I bought it at Walmart for around $15. Give cycling 1 year, and you won’t believe the difference! Good Luck! P.S. What ever seat you buy, it will take some time for your butt to get used to it.
What constitutes a good bicycle seat fit is whether your “sit bones” (the bones you feel when you sit on a curb) are comfortably on the seat (for women this is a wider seat then for males). It supposedly doesn’t matter if you have flesh hanging over the seat as long as those bones are supported. Any bicycle shop though should be more than happy to fit you with the proper seat.
Congratulations on taking up bicycling. I know three people who claim they have lost over 200 pounds by bike riding (so hard to believe it to look at them now). It is an amazing cardiovascular and weight loss excercise. You will love bicycling!
What Lisa F says
It sounds counterintuitive but harder seats can be more comfortable. It’s important, essential that the bike and seat fit you well. Find a local bike club that you feel good about their service and have them check that your bike fits you well.
Congratulations on cycling!!
