I want to remove a couple chain links from my brand new bicycle chain but I don't want to buy the propper chain tools. What house hold tools would I be able to use to complete this (ex: hammer, screwdriver, etc...)?

I purchased a bicycle more than 10 years ago for over $600.00. It was never used. It's in perfect condition except for one small tear in the seat. The gears all work right. I rode it and it rides great. The bike is an Express Giant. I was hoping to ask $400 for it. What price do you think I can get for it?

I got a used bicycle here and it uses footbrake. The thing is, the brake is really weak so when I reverse-pedal to brake, it takes too long. How do I tighten it or if necessary, replace it?

I purchased an 18 speed, 26 inch bicycle a little over a year ago. I did not ride it much at all. Now when I exert any pressure on the pedals the chain slips on the sprocket for approx. 1/2 of a revolution. Why?

I know Baron Karl Von Drais was one of the first to invent the bicycle (but there was no pedals) in 1817. And Pierre and Ernest Michaux were the first to invent the bike WITH pedals (1860s). So I'd like to know how people got around and their main transportation before the invention of the bicycle. (: thanks !
